Concerning Sharks: Meet the Saw Sharks

The man of the hour... SOLOMON!
Saw sharks get their name for quite an obvious reason- I hope. There are eight different types of saw shark, all of which frequent Japanese, South African, and Australian waters. They tend to stay at depths of 40 meters, and their numbers or currently declining- you want to guess why?

Turns out the little jagged edges along the snout (that make up the saw), are the teeth! So that's kind of interesting. They use their saw to capture prey. By using quick sidelong movements (jerking their head from side to side) they are able to shred their prey- for easing eating... Don't want to disturb one of these guys.

They can live for up to 15 years (in the wild). They give birth to live young, which they then raise until 2 years of age. The young is born with folded up teeth, otherwise the raising part may become slightly difficult.
