Concerning Polar Bears: And. Breathe.

Polar Bear Cam, Courtesy of Ouwenhand Cam

After a few more minutes of pacing, Nanuk made his way back to the fallen log, only to stand dormant for a few more minutes. First I was thinking he was just observing something, until I focused in on his mouth. Every couple of seconds I could see, as Nanuk opened his jaw, only to close it again. This behavior was accompanied by an exaggerated expulsion of air (or so it seems). The pacing behavior, along with this almost exasperated expulsion of air, make me wonder if that log is maybe not supposed to be there: thus causing distress.
It may be a little difficult to see in this image, but Nanuk is opening his jaw slightly, as his ribs sink inwards (breathing out).

 Breathing out again.
