It seems I forgot I have a blog...

10:24 AM
labelled for reuse http://www.pauldingcountyareafoundation.net/note-that-says-sorry-xvl4oljbjpcp.html
It seems most of the posts I've been writing recently, have been apologies for not writing. So I guess I owe you a double apology.... one for a lack of content, and two for sub-par quality posts on the few you have received.

As usual I do have my excuses, though I doubt you would appreciate me going into them. So I'll refrain myself, at any rate expect more frequent posting in the near future. And a possible remodel. I haven't quite yet decided. Over the next few days I'm looking into some logistical things with the blog, so it might take me a while to get a proper post written, but I promise once I've sorted it out (finally), I'll be back in full swing.

Though I will say, it doesn't help that apple has decided to remove blogger as one of their apps... I quite enjoyed that little feature. If anything who can do anything about that is reading this right now, I'd really appreciate having that app returned to its rightful pedestal on my home screen.

That' is for now folks!

Explaining dragons: An explanation

7:48 PM

Labeled for reuse link
I have quite a lot to explain. For one thing I haven't posted anything in months, that is largely because I have not really had the time to. Not a great an excuse, but that's all I have. Well, that and also, as you all know, I am in the midst of writing my second book. No small feat. Anyway, I have come to the conclusion that I need to remodel my blog. Again. But this time I am looking at a layout and a content reconstruction.

The current theme is alright but I am looking into acquiring a different one. Content-wise I am looking at quite a large turning point. The other day I was looking for a website that looked at everyday questions and tried to answer them with science. More specifically the science behind fiction. The science behind the things that come from our imagination. Hence the new title, Explaining Dragons. I want to dedicate this blog to all things science, with a particular focus on the scientific possibilities shown in movies, film, books, and everything in-between. I will still sometimes just do a straight up review, and I will continue to check in with our friends Wake and Nemo, as well as the other characters that have appeared on this blog since its inception.

I'm afraid I cannot yet promise any regular postings, but you can look forward to a new blog theme coming within the next few weeks. Hopefully...

Sorry for the hastily written post.

Oh, one more thing. All my past posts will remain on this blog, so don't worry about that.

"If you want to give up remember why you started."

Wise, wise words. I've been running through this quote quite a bit recently. Someday they may come in handy for you too. I should clarify. The quote I'm referring to is the title of this post. Sorry I got a little overzealous with quotes. Once you get me started I tend not to stop.

"Never give up on something that you can't go a day without thinking about."

If you do, you'll never forgive yourself. And you'll be an old man filled with regret. Did you get the reference? If not. Well. I can't talk to you right now. And seriously? You don't get it? That's just shameful. Simply shameful. Also I'm not sure if I should put quotations around that... It seems like I should, but you never really know. Also I'm not entirely certain I quoted completely correctly. Oh well.

Sorry...

1. I've had a number of sciency posts recently. I apologize if that's not your cup of tea. Haha. See what I did there?
2. I haven't really posted anything substantial for the last couple of weeks. Yeah... I'll try and get on that.
3. I might continue to be busy.... I'm kinda working on a project right now... Hopefully I can write about the project someday. But for now. Apologies.

I will hopefully be able to post some foody posts in the next couple of days. Don't we all love food?

Drinking: Cold Japanese Oolong Tea. Yum. I think I'm gonna go get another cup now.

The Aliens are Upon Us!

10:41 AM
I'm kidding. Seriously. I'm just melodramatic. What I meant to say is, today the solar eclipse! Just thought I'd mention it.

If I could actually watch it I wouldn't be sitting here writing this, however, since I value my vision I will have to be content here. Unfortunately, I have not obtained any smoke glass, in order to stare directly into the sun. Oh well, happy solar eclipse!

Sorry for this rather pointless post....

An Announcement

6:09 PM
pixabay labeled for reuse
Dearest Readers, Followers, People in general, I guess if there is a very intelligent monkey who happens to be reading my blog posts this would be addressed to him/her as well,

Anyway, this is an announcement. As I hope you have already guessed. I am in the process of merging this blog (Serendipity in a Tea Cup) with my other blog (Concerning Kingdom Animalia), so if you are seeing an influx of posts this is the reason. I'm trying to schedule the imported blog posts more marginally towards this blog, nonetheless, be warned.

Also, this means some of the posts that are going up are outdated, this is because they were written before. Bare with me.

What this means for you:

Well, considering that my content is so divergent anyway, it shouldn't mean all too much to you, however, you must know that much of what I did on the other blog had to do with marine biology (see the new section I have built in to this blog for this purpose). If it didn't have to do with marine biology it had to do with animals. Also I will be introducing you to some friends of mine from that blog. The first two you will meet are named Nemo and Wake. No these are not people. These are two beluga whales I spend a large time watching over a webcam. Among them you will also get very familiar with Solomon (shark) and Bruce (Bull shark).

I hope this news is not upsetting to you, but rather fascinating. I must say the world of marine life is one to be in awe of, and I hope you will agree with me.

I would encourage you to look at some of the blog posts that will be going into the marine biology section, so that you know how to spot my friends Nemo and Wake, and how to tell them apart. If you aren't a fan of animals, well in case you haven't realized there was already an entire section dedicated to them on my original blog, and rest assured I will continued posting my more regular content as well. Which is mostly to do with tv shows, movies, and books.

Cheers,

Serendipity in A Tea Cup

Since when does everyone ride?

12:03 PM
Wikimedia commons "labeled for reuse"
As a rider myself, I can immediately recognise anyone who is is wearing riding clothes. However, recently, I've seen more and more people tromping around in riding pants and shoes. Apparently, this is the new style craze. To me, and I imagine other riders, this wearing of riding equipment away from the stable just looks a little odd. Riding shoes, never look shiny, black, and clean for long. Mine look a little more like this (left picture):

Leather therapy "labeled for reuse"
So when I see hundreds of people traipsing around in their shiny black riding boots, I can't help wondering, what the heck are you doing? Those, shoes have been developed to muck out stables, to stick in stirrups, and the shape is such, that if you fall you aren't dragged around the paddock still attached to the horse. But it doesn't stop there: oh no.

For a couple months now, I've been seeing people in riding pants. I can tell they aren't going to the stable, because on their arm is slung a Louis Vuitton bag, and their jackets are from Armani. So when I see riding pants paired with that, I can't help snickering a little. My riding pants, smell like the inside of a horse's stable, they have brown spots all over, there a bits of hay clinging to the fabric, and in the summer it is covered in fur. The padded knee and calf parts of the pants, are there so that you can protect your leg from the constant pressure that needs to be applied to the horse's belly. Why on earth would you need a padded knee and calf to go to the city? Although, I can see why people may like the look of it, as a rider I simply find it amusing.

Go on non-riders, continue wearing the equipment of our sport. We won't stop you, we'll just have a laugh now and again.

A Christmas (day) Schedule

9:06 AM
For many, Christmas, is one of the busiest times of year. I on the other hand, have always enjoyed a laid back Christmas, consisting mostly of lazing on the couch: I am not one, who wishes for chaos on Christmas, rather serenity and relaxation.

Matt, Flickr "Labeled for reuse"
  1. Wake up (usually between 8:00-10:00 - although, I usually wake up early, so feel free to adjust the timeframe)
  2. Remain in bed for another half hour (I'll usually read something- usually LOTR related)
  3. Finally get up, and trudge to the kitchen
  4. Have a yummilicious breakfast (something along the lines of: pancakes, waffles, omelette, something a little special)
  5. Walk over to the living room, and put something on the TV (try for something Christmasy)
  6. After watching for a while, begin opening presents :)
  7. If there's any present you can 'do' right now, do that.
  8. Watch Deck the Halls
  9. Eat snacky food throughout the day
  10. Watch LOTR
  11. Eat a scrumptious dinner
  12. Fall to sleep in glee

A Snapshot into my Favourite Quotes

5:14 PM
I am the type of person who collects things. This habit turns to misfortune, when I inevitably lose interest after a couple years. However, a less pricey, and arguably more useful, collection of mine, has been quotes. When I can remember (and be bothered to), I will record quotes from movies, tv shows, and books. Here, for your enjoyment, are a few of them (I can't be bothered to count).

Change Blog Background

1:17 PM
Feel free to completely ignore this post, actually please do. I'm merely writing this to remind my forgetful self to change the background of Serenity in a Tea Cup, on occasion. Currently, it should be a semi-Christmasy themed one.

Concerning Kingdom Animalia: Wishing thee much merrying and wonder

4:34 PM
Merry Christmas world!

Spare a moment for those who suffer in this world. Those we've given no other choice. Our world, has a tendency to change, we may not notice it, but if we remain blind, when we next see, we may be facing a very different future.

Apologies, this was supposed to be a merry and Christmasy post. Well, whoops. I guess this blog will remain somber.

It's the Most Wonderful Time of Year

9:13 AM
Welcome, once more, to Serenity in a Tea Cup. As today is Christmas day, I though nothing more fitting, than a post wishing you a magical one.
Something about Christmas brings the kid out in all the joyous folk- something it shares in common with Disney.
Christmas is a time for cozy reads by a fire, relaxing with a good movie, and most of all spending time with family (although, some would argue it's the food).
As it is, after all, Christmas, I will leave thee to your merrymaking.

Ho Ho Ho, Merry Christmas!

Greetings

7:33 PM
Dearest Readers,
And so begins our journey. A quest thats destination is yet to be written. I implore you to join me, through reviews, recipes, stories and anything else that tickles my fancy.
Be assured that Lord of the Rings will appear frequently, as will any number of other franchises I subscribe to.

Take up arms, grab a cup of your favourite tea (for me that's green tea), curl up on a couch, and begin reading- while I'll begin writing.

In haste,

A fellow tea lover

P.S. This blog really isn't about tea- I may have a section at most, I just enjoy tea in general. Particularly, when reading, writing, or watching TV. All activities, which I frequently undertake.

Concerning Kingdom Animalia: Christmas!!!

4:14 PM
Dearest readers,
I believe my absence, lasting over a month now, warrants an apology. Well there you have it. Sorry, I'm not really one to explain myself.

Moving on.

Well, today, is Christmas eve. How the year has flown by. I have no idea how long I've had this blog, however, it seems as if it's been quite a while. Christmas has always been one of my favoritist (I realise this is not a word) times of year. My hope is people will be in a more mindful state of mind, perhaps their actions will save just one animal. Although, I'll venture, that saving the planet, may not be on many peoples' minds this time of year. It's a holiday more focused on our own species, nonetheless, the new year is on the horizon, and I hope that our destructive habits may change yet.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas,

Concerning Kingdom Animalia

P.S.: Don't forget to leave something for the reindeer :)
